Software Tester

Location: Hybrid position in Alexandria, Virginia, United States

Salary: $90,000–$112,000 annually

What you will do

• Verify software performance and application functionality across virtual, remote, server, workstation, and physical testing environments.
• Test and validate software patches, updates, operating system upgrades, peripherals, and application baselines.
• Troubleshoot, isolate, document, and resolve software defects and technical issues.
• Create, update, and track testing requests, service requests, bug logs, and remediation activities.
• Stage, configure, deploy, test, and decommission end-user test workstations and related equipment.
• Provide Tier 3 testing escalation support, coordinate with vendors and developers for Tier 4 support, and report performance against SLAs and KPIs.

Requirements

• High school diploma with 9+ years of experience or equivalent experience.
• Expert-level experience in software testing, quality verification, and hands-on application validation.
• Experience testing patches, system updates, operating system upgrades, remote servers, and workstations.
• Experience troubleshooting technical defects, managing bug logs, and tracking requests in enterprise systems, including ServiceNow.
• Ability to create PowerShell scripts for installing, modifying, or monitoring software and services.
• Active Secret Clearance required.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting the U.S. Coast Guard, Department of Homeland Security, or similar government software delivery environments.
• Experience with configuration management repositories and technical testing documentation.
• Experience mentoring or training junior software testers.
• Technical certifications related to software testing or enterprise systems.
