Battery Cell Senior Engineer

Location: Mossville, Illinois, United States; onsite five days a week. Domestic relocation is available. Travel of up to 20% is expected, including potential international trips.

What you will do

• Lead battery cell selection based on specifications, chemistries, form factors, and validation test results.
• Define cell-related requirements for battery systems used in electrified machines.
• Coordinate technical discussions with cell suppliers throughout design, qualification, production, and production-change investigations.
• Collaborate with battery system, software/BMS, modeling, compliance, and test engineering teams to develop and execute cell validation plans.
• Analyze battery cell failures and degradation mechanisms through postmortem and root cause analysis.
• Manage supplier progress, corrective action plans, testing schedules, and technical reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, or a related field.
• Experience with battery cell design, manufacturing, validation testing, and lithium-ion or other battery chemistries.
• Knowledge of electrochemical and chemical analysis methods, cell postmortem analysis, and failure or degradation mechanisms.
• Experience managing battery cell projects, supplier qualification, DFMEA/PFMEA, production quality, and failure analysis.
• Experience designing cell-level testing strategies, experiments, life and performance validation, and processing large datasets with Python, Matlab, or Excel.
• Must be available to work onsite in Mossville, Illinois, five days per week. Visa sponsorship is not available.
