Claim Specialist - Property Field Inspection (Property Insurance)

Location: Remote-field position based in Mt. Washington, Kentucky; competitive candidates should reside within the listed ZIP codes and service the same territory. Work is performed from home and in the field using a mobile office/vehicle for in-person appointments, with occasional travel to other territories.

Salary: $63,089.65–$90,000 annually, plus potential yearly incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Conduct on-site inspections and assess residential and commercial property damage, including accident- and weather-related claims.
• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000.
• Meet with policyholders, explain coverage, gather information, and provide customer service throughout the claims process.
• Document evidence, prepare detailed reports, evaluate coverage and policy terms, and ensure compliance with local regulations.
• Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits based on policy provisions, industry standards, and company guidelines.
• Collaborate with policyholders, agents, and other involved parties to resolve claims efficiently.

Requirements

• Ability to investigate problems, evaluate information, make well-supported decisions, and interpret detailed policies, guidelines, or technical information accurately.
• Ability to learn unfamiliar concepts, processes, and terminology and apply them in practical situations.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with policyholders, agents, and other stakeholders, including difficult or emotional conversations.
• Detail-oriented approach with strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with mobile and desktop tools for documenting and supporting claims in the field and remotely.
• Physical ability to walk, bend, reach, kneel, squat, stoop, lift, carry, unfold equipment, climb ladders, traverse roofs at various heights and pitches, and crawl in tight spaces while inspecting residential and commercial structures.
• May be required to complete Rope and Harness Safety Training.
• Valid driver's license.
• Successful completion of required training, applicable proficiency and licensing exams, Motor Vehicle Record checks, and background checks required by applicable states.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Construction Management, or a similar field.
• Customer service experience involving customer inquiries, professional communication, and empathetic support.
• Understanding of property insurance concepts, coverage fundamentals, and general claim handling practices.
• Baseline knowledge of residential and commercial building construction, components, and materials.
• Familiarity with water mitigation principles and inspection processes.
• Working knowledge of Xactimate and XactContents.
