Property Field Claims Specialist (Insurance)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States territory; fully remote, but residence in the nearby area or willingness to relocate at personal expense is required. Automobile travel within the territory represents approximately 75% of the role.

Salary: USD $83,000–$108,000 per year.

What you will do

• Handle property and inland marine claims for the assigned region, with availability to assist other regions.
• Evaluate and settle primarily property-related damages with aggregate exposures of $25,000–$100,000, including occasional losses exceeding $100,000.
• Handle typical Business Income losses and participate in the corporate catastrophe team as an initial responder for catastrophe claim events.
• Investigate claims, estimate property damage, select and deploy experts, obtain documentation, and make accurate settlements within established authority.
• Make coverage determinations, conduct negotiations, reserve claims, and respond to legal, regulatory, and appeals matters.
• Provide coverage and estimating assistance to regional claims staff and travel by automobile within the territory.

Requirements

• Ability to work varying shifts.
• Knowledge of and proficiency with standard business and claims-specific computer software, plus efficient and productive keyboarding skills.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license in good standing and ability to drive an automobile.
• College degree preferred.
• Prefer 5 years of claims experience, thorough knowledge of Commercial and Personal Lines coverages, and computer-based damage estimating.
