What you will do

• Design, install, customize, administer, and maintain IBM z/OS Communication Server networking components and Connect:Direct.
• Troubleshoot complex mainframe networking and middleware issues using IPCS, packet traces, and root-cause analysis.
• Monitor performance, conduct capacity planning, and implement tuning measures to meet service-level agreements.
• Configure security controls, AT-TLS, certificates, and CA-ACF2 integrations to support banking compliance requirements.
• Lead and participate in software upgrades, hardware refreshes, disaster recovery planning, and exercises.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, documentation, vendor coordination, and 24/7 on-call support.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of combined higher education and/or related work experience.
• Expert knowledge of z/OS Communication Server, including VTAM, TCP/IP, FTP, SFTP, TLS/AT-TLS, OSA-Express, TN3270 Services, DNS, and Enterprise Extender.
• Strong knowledge of Connect:Direct (NDM), SMP/E, and z/OSMF for software installation and maintenance.
• Fluency in JCL, REXX, and CLIST.
• Proven analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work remotely within the USA and support a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency with IBM MQ Series on Z, CICS, and DB2 on Z.
• 5–7 years of mainframe systems programming experience focused on networking and middleware.
• Relevant professional certifications.
