Data Engineering Manager (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid in New York City or San Francisco, United States

Salary: $170K–$200K plus equity

What you will do

• Build, lead, and grow a high-performing Data Engineering team, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and development of senior technical leaders.
• Set the technical direction for data engineering, guiding architecture, data modeling, engineering practices, and platform decisions.
• Develop AI-assisted workflows that improve speed and quality across the analytics engineering lifecycle.
• Partner with Infrastructure, Analytics, Data Science, Product, Engineering, Finance, and other teams to define ownership and improve data usability.
• Shape organizational design, hiring strategy, roadmap prioritization, and investment decisions with the Head of Data.
• Build tooling, workflows, review processes, abstractions, and guardrails that enable domain experts to contribute safely to the enterprise data warehouse.

Requirements

• Track record of building and leading high-performing data or analytics engineering teams.
• Deep analytics engineering expertise with dbt and experience modeling complex business domains.
• Strong technical judgment in data modeling, architecture, reliability, and engineering standards.
• Strong SQL fluency and familiarity with Python and modern software engineering practices.
• Experience introducing AI-assisted workflows at scale.
• Experience in a high-growth startup, fintech, or another environment where data correctness and reliability are critical.
