Software Development Engineer II - Customer Fulfilment (Java)

Location: Welwyn Garden City, United Kingdom; hybrid, with 60% of the week spent at office locations or local sites

What you will do

• Build scalable and resilient Java backend services, APIs, and microservices for customer fulfilment workflows.
• Develop and deliver end-to-end features, including frontend work with backend integration.
• Own the design and delivery of medium-sized features throughout the software lifecycle.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to define solutions.
• Write maintainable code, participate in peer reviews, and improve engineering standards.
• Support production services, onboard junior engineers, and share technical knowledge.

Requirements

• Experience developing products with agile methodologies.
• Hands-on experience building and supporting reliable distributed Java applications or products.
• Experience designing, developing, and operating backend components or services.
• Exposure to DevOps practices and the software development lifecycle.
• Ability to collaborate with and support other engineers.
• Experience contributing to globally distributed software engineering teams is advantageous.
