Solutions Architect - Data Governance (Microsoft Purview)

Location: US - Remote; travel to SHI, partner, and customer locations may be required.

Salary: $140,000–$225,000 annual pay, including base salary and bonus.

What you will do

• Lead enterprise data governance strategy, architecture, maturity assessments, roadmaps, and discovery workshops.
• Architect and oversee Microsoft Purview implementations covering Unified Catalog, Data Map, Data Estate Insights, metadata, business glossaries, and data lineage.
• Design stewardship models, ownership structures, governance policies, taxonomy standards, and operating procedures.
• Advise executive stakeholders, governance councils, data leaders, security teams, and technical delivery teams.
• Design governance monitoring and operational reporting with Azure Monitor and Azure Log Analytics.
• Assess governance readiness for Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Azure Data Services, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and enterprise AI initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent professional experience.
• Seven or more years of experience delivering enterprise data, information management, or data governance solutions, with substantial recent governance experience.
• Hands-on Microsoft Purview implementation experience, including Unified Catalog, Data Map, Data Estate Insights, business glossary, metadata management, and data lineage.
• Experience establishing data stewardship programs with executive sponsorship, ownership structures, accountability frameworks, and adoption strategies.
• Experience leading customer-facing consulting engagements, executive workshops, governance assessments, and strategic advisory initiatives.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Azure, data engineering architectures, data visualization architectures, and governance reporting.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure Databricks, Unity Catalog, Microsoft 365 Copilot enablement, AI governance, Microsoft Foundry, or Copilot Studio.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD for data and analytics platforms.
• Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare, financial services, insurance, manufacturing, or the public sector.
