Principal Architect - Data & AI (Microsoft)

Location: US - Remote

Salary: $200,000–$250,000 annual pay, including base salary and bonus

What you will do

• Lead technical delivery approaches for large, multidisciplinary engagements spanning data engineering, data visualization, data governance, and AI.
• Coordinate capability leads around sequencing, dependencies, shared standards, staffing, and delivery risk.
• Build and institutionalize delivery standards, reusable accelerators, engineering practices, advisory frameworks, and evaluation rubrics.
• Apply AI tooling and agentic patterns to improve the speed, consistency, and quality of consulting delivery.
• Coach architects and consultants across disciplines and influence technical leads without direct reporting authority.
• Support practice decisions involving talent models, presales, scoping, learning pathways, and capability growth.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or equivalent professional experience.
• 10+ years delivering enterprise data or AI solutions, including substantial consulting or professional services experience.
• Expert depth in data engineering, data visualization, or data governance, with working proficiency across at least two additional areas.
• Experience leading technical delivery across multiple disciplines on large or complex engagements.
• Experience taking a practice capability from assessment through adoption, with documented standards, owners, and evidence of implementation.
• Hands-on experience with the Microsoft data and AI ecosystem, such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, Power BI, Microsoft Purview, Copilot Studio, or Microsoft Foundry.

Nice to have

• Presales experience covering scoping, effort modeling, technical approach, and SOW input.
• Familiarity with DORA capabilities in data and analytics delivery.
• Experience with regulated-industry or public-sector clients.
• Relevant Microsoft certifications, such as PL-300, DP-600, DP-700, DP-750, GH-300, GH-600, or AI-901.
• A portfolio, GitHub repository, or other public content demonstrating relevant expertise.
