Employment Law In-House Counsel

Location: Hybrid role based at the corporate headquarters in Bloomington, Illinois, with significant time expected in the Bloomington office

Salary: $137,000–$198,000 per year, plus potential yearly incentive pay of up to 30% of base salary

What you will do

• Advise business leaders and Human Resources on employment and independent-contractor agency legal matters.
• Manage day-to-day counseling, administrative proceedings including EEOC charges, and complex federal and state litigation.
• Analyze evolving employment laws and regulations and develop practical legal strategies.
• Identify legal risks with business and HR partners and implement preventive solutions.
• Direct and manage outside counsel in employment and agency litigation.
• Collaborate on emerging legal issues, policy development, and workforce and agency-system initiatives.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school and excellent academic credentials.
• Active license to practice law in at least one state and membership in good standing of the bar.
• If not licensed in Illinois, obtain an in-house limited license and apply to the Illinois Board of Admissions within 90 days of starting.
• At least 3 years of employment law or litigation experience.
• Advanced knowledge of relevant legal principles and practices, with a proactive and business-focused approach.
• Must be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately; hirify.global will not sponsor U.S. work authorization.

Nice to have

• Experience handling employment matters for employers and counseling employers on labor-related issues.
• Experience with complex employment litigation.
