Counsel - Management Liability & Specialty Lines (Insurance)

Location: Fully remote within the United States; occasional or regular travel may be required depending on the role.

Salary: $138,000–$243,000 annually; expected starting salary range: $138,000–$206,000.

What you will do

• Draft, review, and negotiate policy forms and endorsements for management liability and specialty insurance coverages.
• Advise underwriters, product managers, and business partners on coverage interpretation, surplus lines, admitted products, regulatory compliance, and product development.
• Identify and assess complex legal and business risks and develop practical mitigation strategies.
• Lead complex and strategic legal matters, negotiations, and projects across multiple business lines.
• Advise senior leaders on case law, legislative developments, and regulatory matters.
• Build relationships with business partners and legal colleagues; mentor attorneys or paralegals and potentially supervise up to three legal associates.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association-accredited law school.
• Active attorney licensure in good standing in the state or states where the candidate practices, with all continuing legal education requirements maintained.
• At least six years of relevant legal experience, preferably in management liability or specialty insurance coverage law.
• Experience interpreting statutes, regulations, insurance policies, and other contracts.
• Strong legal analysis, communication, decision-making, project coordination, and negotiation skills.
• A valid credit and/or background check is required as part of the selection process.
