Senior Manager, Staff Counsel - Maryland

Location: Hybrid position based at the Bethesda, MD or Baltimore, MD site. Travel is required for trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences. hirify.global Flex permits working from anywhere in the US for up to four weeks per year.

Annual salary: $148,625–$260,350.

What you will do

• Manage staff counsel office activities involving liability, property damage, UM/UIM, and subrogation lawsuits.
• Oversee attorneys and support staff, including hiring, performance reviews, salary recommendations, coaching, discipline, and termination decisions.
• Represent insureds and hirify.global in litigation and handle pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, examinations under oath, trials, and arbitrations.
• Research applicable law and prepare legal briefs, opinions, memoranda, and liability, damages, and valuation assessments.
• Train and supervise less experienced attorneys while monitoring file quality, expense management, bar requirements, and CLE compliance.
• Review office performance reports and implement improvements to productivity, reporting timeliness, resolved ratios, client surveys, and subrogation results.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree required.
• Active license in good standing to practice law in applicable jurisdictions, with ongoing licensing and CLE compliance.
• At least 10 years of litigation experience, including insurance defense or personal injury.
• Experience managing a team of attorneys and support staff.
• Demonstrated primary trial responsibility for cases of significant severity and complexity.
