Senior Manager, Staff Counsel

Location: Hybrid in the United States, with the position associated with Hackensack, New Jersey; travel is required for trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences.

Annual salary: $166,050–$260,350.

What you will do

• Manage staff counsel office activities and supervise attorneys and support staff handling liability, property damage, UM/UIM, and subrogation matters.
• Oversee litigation strategy, including legal research, briefs, opinions, memoranda, pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, and examinations under oath.
• Represent hirify.global insureds and hirify.global in applicable lawsuits, trials, arbitrations, and related proceedings.
• Hire, evaluate, coach, discipline, and manage personnel, including approving applicants, performance appraisals, salary adjustments, and other personnel changes.
• Train less experienced attorneys and monitor trial support, file quality, expense management, bar requirements, and CLE compliance.
• Review office performance reports and implement improvements to reporting timeliness, productivity, resolved ratios, client surveys, and subrogation results.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree required.
• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in applicable jurisdictions, with all licensing and mandatory CLE requirements maintained.
• Minimum 10 years of litigation experience, including insurance defense or personal injury.
• Experience managing a team of attorneys and support staff.
• Successful primary trial responsibility for cases of significant severity and complexity.
• Must be able to meet the attendance requirements of the business location and travel as needed.
