Software Engineer (TypeScript)

Location: Remote within the U.S.; hybrid from San Francisco, New York City, or Salt Lake City with in-person collaboration 3 days per week.

Salary: $165,000–$250,000 base salary plus potential equity, commission, and benefits.

hirify.global provides a tax automation platform that connects billing and payment systems to automate tax monitoring, calculations, and filings across U.S. jurisdictions and more than 100 countries.

What you will do

• Own the scoping, design, and development of product features.
• Design systems that address customer needs and real-world tax compliance problems.
• Build product experiences using TypeScript across frontend and backend, React, and Postgres.
• Identify and fix bugs and technical debt while accounting for future maintenance needs.
• Collaborate with Support to resolve technical customer issues.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience working as a software engineer.
• 4+ years of experience building web application backends.
• Strong technical problem-solving and system design skills, including the ability to articulate tradeoffs.
• Ability to challenge assumptions and choose appropriate solutions for current and future needs.
• Experience sharing knowledge and helping other engineers grow.
• Must be located in the U.S.; employees outside the hub cities receive a fully remote U.S.-only setup.

Nice to have

• Frontend development experience.
• Hands-on experience building an AI application, workflow, or creative solution to a real problem.
