Senior Principal Interconnect Development Engineer

Location: Hybrid, with an expectation of working from an HPE office an average of 2 days per week. The posting provides US salary ranges for Massachusetts, California, and Texas.

Salary: Annual base salary of USD 174,000–331,000 in Massachusetts, USD 174,000–352,500 in California, or USD 153,000–352,500 in Texas. Variable incentives may also be offered.

What you will do

• Develop high-speed interconnect solutions, including connectors and cables, for next-generation network switches and routers.
• Manage and influence interconnect technology roadmaps between hardware design engineering and suppliers.
• Validate pre-NPI and pre-product technologies for future system-level designs through test vehicles and technology validation plans.
• Work with suppliers and hardware engineering on co-development projects and design-related problem solving.
• Evaluate mechanical design, signal integrity, FMEA, failure analysis, design of experiments, simulations, and physical measurements.

Requirements

• 15 years of industry experience, including 10 years of hands-on experience with high-speed, complex interconnect hardware operating at 56 GHz or higher and involving 100 or more differential pairs.
• Experience with both connectors and high-speed cables, including interconnect materials and mechanical/electrical trade-offs.
• Expertise in variation statistics, process control, manufacturability, qualification, and reliability standards for connector design.
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling and geometric tolerance analysis using SolidWorks, ProE, or equivalent tools.
• Cross-functional experience with hardware, mechanical, PCB, electrical, signal integrity, thermal, program, and commercial engineering teams.
• BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with strong presentation, communication, and influencing skills.
