Product Applications Engineer (High Speed Interconnect Products)

Location: USA-CA, Irvine, Alton Parkway Building 2; primarily office-based with travel to customer premises

Annual base salary: USD 143,800–230,000, plus discretionary bonus and equity opportunities.

What you will do

• Support Tier 1 customers with architecture, low-level hardware, software, and product application questions.
• Provide pre-sales and post-sales support through email, phone, and customer visits.
• Analyze customer architectures and requirements to secure design wins and support successful product launches.
• Debug complex issues, perform board bring-up, and review schematics and PCB layouts.
• Contribute to product definition, documentation, and roadmap development.
• Train customers and Field Applications Engineers and collaborate with hardware, software, architecture, operations, sales, marketing, and senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or postgraduate degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 8–15+ years of relevant experience with a strong record of success.
• Strong knowledge of high-speed 100 Gbps+ PHY and SerDes technologies.
• Experience with applications engineering, direct customer interaction, complex debugging, project or time management, and hardware/software/firmware bring-up.
• Practical knowledge of C, C++, and Visual Basic for modifying or creating simple functions and scripts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, teamwork, problem-solving, and training skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ethernet systems and standards, 100/200/400 Gbps optical systems, OTN, PAM4, optical components, and high-speed signal integrity.
• Experience with complex system-on-chip devices, register-level programming, hardware or board systems, and test equipment including traffic generators, high-speed scopes, jitter analyzers, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and OTN testers.
• Fluency in foreign languages and additional presentation experience.
