Senior Principal Applications Engineer / Technical Lead (Semiconductor Test)

Location: Livermore, California, United States. Full-time day shift with domestic and international travel as required.

Salary: $136,200–$178,815 per year, depending on experience, skills, and background.

What you will do

• Act as the primary technical advisor for strategic semiconductor customers throughout evaluation, qualification, deployment, production release, and high-volume manufacturing.
• Lead customer technical reviews, production readiness reviews, roadmap discussions, executive briefings, demonstrations, benchmarking, and acceptance testing.
• Develop and deploy application methodologies for electrical, parametric, RF, optical, photonics, and high-speed device characterization.
• Lead complex root-cause investigations and critical customer escalations across product, process, applications, engineering, service, and manufacturing.
• Represent the voice of the customer in product roadmaps and support growth initiatives in silicon photonics, co-packaged optics, AI/HPC, foundry, memory, and advanced packaging.
• Mentor applications engineers, establish best practices, and drive knowledge sharing across global organizations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, physics, photonics, materials science, mechanical engineering, or a related technical discipline, plus 8 years of related experience; alternatively, 6 years with a master’s degree, 3 years with a PhD, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in semiconductor test, semiconductor capital equipment, probe card technologies, wafer probe systems, device characterization, or related fields.
• Demonstrated success supporting strategic semiconductor customers in development and production environments.
• Experience leading complex technical engagements, customer escalations, and cross-functional teams in ambiguous situations.
• Strong engineering- and executive-level communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Nice to have

• Experience with automated test equipment, wafer probe systems, probe cards, parametric test, wafer sort, production test, RF and microwave measurements, or high-speed digital testing.
• Knowledge of signal integrity, silicon photonics, optical characterization, co-packaged optics, advanced packaging, heterogeneous integration, yield improvement, product qualification, NPI, failure analysis, or HVM.
• Experience with Python, MATLAB, or JMP Scripting Language.
