Sr./Staff/Sr. Staff - SI/PI Hardware Engineer (Semiconductor)

Salary: $110,000–$175,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop next-generation SSD products with a focus on signal integrity and power integrity.
• Provide SI/PI expertise for SSD controller package substrates and PCB designs.
• Define design guidelines, review designs, validate implementations, and prepare final reports.
• Support PCB backend processes, including stack-up definition, HDI vias, component placement, routing constraints, and design reviews.
• Collaborate with SoC, firmware, package, circuit design, and cross-functional teams on system-level verification and lab validation.
• Mentor engineers, document technical findings, and perform debugging and root-cause analysis for product issues and customer escalations.

Requirements

• BS in Electrical Engineering required; an MS is a plus.
• 3–8+ years of relevant experience in high-speed SSD board design, simulation, and layout guide generation.
• Experience with PCIe Gen4/5/6, DDR4/5, LPDDR4/4x, NVIO, and PDN.
• Strong knowledge of transmission-line theory, 2D/3D EM simulation, single-ended and differential signaling, crosstalk, signal loss, and impedance control.
• Experience with Sigrity, Allegro, ADS, HFSS, SIWAVE, HSPICE, oscilloscopes, VNAs, and TDR equipment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Technical leadership or mentoring experience.
• Experience interpreting PCIe eye diagrams and NRZ, PAM3, PAM4, or PAMx signaling.
• High-frequency low-loss PCB materials and flex-circuit design experience.
• Knowledge of PCIe, DRAM, IBIS, S-parameters, PDN optimization, PSIJ analysis, PCISIG, JEDEC, and ONFI specifications.
