Head of Programme - Engineering

Location: London, Greater London, United Kingdom; duties may require work across different campuses, including evenings and weekends.

What you will do

• Lead the academic and operational delivery of the Engineering programme portfolio in line with OfS B conditions and accreditation requirements.
• Manage Programme Leaders, Senior Lecturers, Lecturers, and Associate Lecturers, including induction, objectives, development plans, appraisals, recruitment, and workload allocation.
• Enhance teaching, learning, assessment, curriculum content, programme documentation, and student experience.
• Oversee marking, moderation, external review, examination boards, programme committees, and quality and partnership meetings.
• Manage student induction, engagement and attendance monitoring, student representatives, support plans, and unresolved programme-related queries.
• Lead annual monitoring, programme action plans, periodic review, re-approval, and responses to external examiner and accreditation feedback.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a relevant Engineering discipline.
• Experience managing higher education academic programmes, preferably in the UK.
• Experience teaching, developing curricula, and managing and enhancing quality in a UK higher education environment.
• Experience leading or supporting engineering accreditation or reaccreditation with IMechE, IET, or comparable Engineering Council-licensed institutions under AHEP4, including curriculum mapping, evidence preparation, visits, and action plans.
• Senior Fellowship of Advance HE, or willingness to achieve it within 12 months.
• Excellent communication, management, learning, and teaching skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas and work independently at pace and scale.

Nice to have

• Experience with professional engineering accreditation beyond the immediate programme portfolio.
• Experience contributing to research, scholarship, knowledge exchange, or knowledge transfer.
