Senior Manager Packaging Innovation (Packaging)

Location: Primarily onsite in Vernon Hills, Illinois, with travel up to 25%

Salary: $110,000–$165,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead customer interactions and collaboration to understand needs, define problem statements, and deliver value-added packaging solutions.
• Develop and implement innovative packaging solutions using corrugated structures, board and paper properties, fiber-based materials, and data-driven methods.
• Identify market trends, product gaps, new materials, and packaging concepts with potential for broad-scale use.
• Lead package-development best practices and mentor package developers across multiple manufacturing locations.
• Use data from multiple sites, experiments, and analytical reporting to identify operational improvements and mitigate implementation risk.
• Present complex test methodologies and results clearly to customers, manufacturing teams, technical stakeholders, sales groups, and executives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in packaging, science, or engineering, with at least 10 years of experience, including significant experience in paper or packaging.
• Demonstrated leadership, creativity, innovation, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and professional presentation skills.
• Experience with corrugated materials, corrugated structures, and board and paper properties.
• Ability to work independently on complex customer and business challenges while collaborating across internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work primarily onsite in Vernon Hills, Illinois, travel up to 25%, and safely handle packages weighing up to 50 lbs. or applicable SOPI/OSHA limits.
• Commitment to safe operation of laboratory equipment and compliance with company policies and procedures.
