TL;DR
In-house Packaging Developer (Packaging Development): Managing packaging development for new beauty products and business continuity projects with an accent on technical robustness, quality, cost, sustainability, and regulatory compliance. Focus on coordinating suppliers and cross-functional teams, evaluating technical drawings and dimensional tolerances, and delivering packaging projects on schedule and within budget.

Location: Morris Plains, New Jersey, United States, with regular trips to the New York office. The role allows remote work for up to 50% of the month.

Salary: $70,000–$90,000 per year, plus eligibility for an annual performance-based bonus.

What you will do

  • Manage packaging development for new product launches and business continuity projects.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, TPMs, procurement, supply chain, creative, artwork, and merchandising teams.
  • Develop packaging solutions that meet quality, cost, timeline, regulatory, and sustainability requirements.
  • Coordinate design reviews, learning plans, production needs, testing deliverables, specifications, and aesthetic development.
  • Provide technical drawings and evaluate dimensional tolerances, design intent, accuracy, and fit for use.
  • Track packaging-related costs, timelines, and deliverables while monitoring packaging technology trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in packaging development, including knowledge of packaging materials, processes, and regulations.
  • Strong project management, multitasking, prioritization, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Experience evaluating technical drawings and dimensional tolerances for different component types.
  • Experience working in international environments and matrix organizations, with the ability to work in a fast-paced agile environment.
  • Near-native fluency in English and availability to work primarily in Morris Plains, NJ, with regular travel to the New York office.

  • Proficiency in CAD software and experience creating die lines.
