Associate Packaging Engineer (Manufacturing)

Location: Richland, Washington, USA, at the Technical Center; ability to travel up to 25% required.

Annual compensation: $64,900–$97,360.

What you will do

• Support packaging innovation stage-gate projects from ideation through commercialization.
• Lead and support technical projects focused on packaging savings, innovation, plant efficiency, and quality improvements.
• Plan, execute, and analyze plant, pilot-plant, and laboratory trials.
• Develop and manage technical packaging specifications and performance requirements.
• Build supplier relationships and qualify packaging materials.
• Use Dynamics Lab for material qualification and prototyping while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; Packaging or Engineering preferred.
• At least one co-op or internship in CPG, or 1+ year of packaging-industry experience.
• Strong understanding of packaging materials, capabilities, equipment, processes, and technology.
• Knowledge of physical and structural package testing, polymer science, and engineering principles.
• Ability to lift 25–50 lbs, stand for 75% of the workday, and sit for up to four hours at a time.
• Valid US driver’s license, ability to meet company driving standards, and ability to travel up to 25% required.

Nice to have

• Experience in the consumer packaged goods industry.
• Exposure to AutoCAD, ArtiosCAD, or SolidWorks.
• Experience with packaging prototyping and continuous improvement.
