Process Support Engineer (Inline 3D X-ray)

Location: Hsinchu or Taichung, Taiwan; remote-first organization with travel to customer sites and company headquarters in California. Travel required 75% of the time; relocation is not eligible.

What you will do

• Provide on-site technical support, installations, system diagnosis, service, and repair for an inline 3D X-ray inspection tool at semiconductor customer fabs.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and computer system issues; investigate tool performance problems and perform root cause analyses.
• Develop and optimize process parameters, inspection workflows, and process integration solutions for Advanced Packaging applications.
• Support hardware qualification, tool bring-up, new feature deployment, customer sign-off, and process specification negotiations.
• Conduct hypothesis experiments and Design of Experiments, analyze data statistically, and prepare reports with technical conclusions.
• Collaborate with customers, R&D, engineering, service, sales, management, and remote teams to identify high-value problems and improve product designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical discipline such as physics, applied physics, solid state physics, materials science, materials engineering, electrical or electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, physical chemistry, microelectronic engineering, nanotechnology, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in the semiconductor fab or equipment industry, or relevant instrumentation experience for recent graduates and R&D technicians.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach to complex hardware and software issues.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing relationships with internal teams and customer stakeholders.
• Excellent customer service, networking, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage moderately complex projects from planning through execution.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Mandarin and English.
• Comfort working in Linux and Windows environments.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites and company headquarters in California as needed.
• Compliance with health and safety requirements at customer sites.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or PhD in a related field.
• Background in X-ray technology, synchrotron instrumentation, photon-based techniques, beamline technology, or laboratory X-ray systems.
• Familiarity with semiconductor process tools, fab environments, capital equipment, or semiconductor metrology processes.
• Familiarity with Python for scientific data acquisition and instrument control.
• Experience with EPICS or a similar distributed motion control and data acquisition platform.
• Experience with JMP, SPC, MATLAB, Mathematica, or Design of Experiment principles.
