Team Lead, Software Development, Altitude (AI)

Location: Oakville, Ontario, Canada; flexible hybrid working model

Salary: $104,400–$135,700 CAD annual base salary

What you will do

• Lead a small cross-functional team of software engineers and UX designers building the Altitude transportation intelligence platform.
• Combine hands-on technical leadership with people management, project leadership, coaching, mentorship, and performance management.
• Direct the design and delivery of scalable, data-driven products and coordinate work with product managers and data scientists.
• Develop clean code and prototypes, minimum viable products, and proofs of concept using an AI-first development approach.
• Apply test-driven and security-driven development, conduct code reviews, and ensure high code quality.
• Document system design and architecture, track delivery schedules, update stakeholders, and participate in a rotating 24x7 on-call schedule if applicable.

Requirements

• Post-secondary diploma or degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of software development experience using object-oriented programming to build scalable applications.
• Leadership experience including coaching, employee development, and performance management of direct reports.
• Experience directing UX designers or design functions, reviewing prototypes, and providing design feedback.
• Technical proficiency with Google BigQuery, cloud-native data pipelines, preferably on GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, and Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Hands-on full-stack experience with HTML/CSS, JavaScript, React, Next.js, Storybook, Node, Go, Python, and Git, plus experience using AI to write code and optimize workflows.
