Principal Engineer

Location: 100% Remote, USA

Salary: $180,000–$200,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Contribute hands-on to the codebase using Go, Python, and JavaScript.
• Set technical standards through code reviews, architecture decisions, design documentation, and pair programming.
• Identify technical debt and engineering risks, and communicate tradeoffs to stakeholders.
• Develop Agile processes including sprint planning, refinement, and process improvement.
• Directly manage and mentor one engineer while helping a small team become more cohesive and process-driven.
• Build robust, reliable cloud solutions for customers operating in the national security space.

Requirements

• Professional proficiency in Go, Python, and JavaScript for Linux-based cloud environments.
• Experience building and operating software products in fast-paced, resource-constrained environments.
• Fluency with modern DevOps, CI/CD, and Agile tooling, including AWS, EKS, Helm, and Flux.
• Track record of technical leadership, direct line management, mentorship, or technical lead responsibilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication, including design documentation, standups, and presenting tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work through ambiguity and complex, open-ended national security problems.

Nice to have

• Active Top Secret (TS/SCI) clearance.
• Background in NLP, LLMs, agentic tooling, or data-intensive applications.
