Chief Systems Architect (Cloud)

Salary: $160,000–$240,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Define and execute the macro-level enterprise architecture strategy for a large government program.
• Design integration fabrics, APIs, and data standards that connect vendor solutions and legacy applications into a cohesive cloud-native ecosystem.
• Serve as the primary technical authority across cloud, data engineering, distributed microservices, and cross-domain integration.
• Establish interoperable architectures using DevSecOps pipelines and Zero-Trust Network Access principles.
• Translate operational requirements into technical specifications and architectural allocations with product, program, and government stakeholders.
• Advise senior leaders on technology trade-offs and align multidisciplinary engineering teams with the architectural vision.

Requirements

• 15+ years of progressive IT and engineering experience, including 5+ years as a Chief or Principal Architect leading large-scale modernization and systems integration.
• Experience integrating disparate architectures, heterogeneous data streams, and siloed software solutions for the Department of War or Intelligence Community.
• Deep experience with AWS GovCloud or Azure Government, Kubernetes, container orchestration, and mesh networks.
• Strong background in modern data platforms, distributed data systems, and real-time analytics pipelines.
• Experience with large-scale Agile frameworks such as SAFe or Scrum@Scale and automated CI/CD delivery pipelines.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience or certifications; eligibility to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance and willingness to travel are required.
