Sr Principal Engineer, Automation Projects

Location: Round Lake, Illinois, United States. Domestic and international travel of up to 20% is required. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Salary: $128,000–$176,000 annually, with potential discretionary bonuses.

What you will do

• Lead automation and capital equipment projects from concept through commissioning, including scope, requirements, schedules, deliverables, and goals.
• Develop user requirement specifications, technical proposals, machine concepts, and cost estimates for custom automated machinery and manufacturing systems.
• Manage safety, quality, budget, schedule, expenditures, and approved capital funding throughout project execution.
• Direct cross-functional teams of engineers, designers, technicians, manufacturing personnel, and external suppliers through design, procurement, fabrication, installation, and acceptance.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance during assembly, integration, debugging, troubleshooting, testing, validation, and startup on the manufacturing floor.
• Oversee suppliers, investigate performance issues, implement equipment and process improvements, and maintain technical documentation and training materials.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required; Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
• At least 8 years of engineering experience.
• Experience developing automated manufacturing equipment and using mechanical CAD software; SolidWorks is preferred.
• Experience in aseptic processing or a cGMP manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate within small cross-functional teams.
• Authorization to work for any employer in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available.
