Senior Mechanical Engineer (Pharmaceutical Utilities & Environmental Systems)

Location: Onsite in Andover, Massachusetts, United States. Candidates must have permanent authorization to work in the United States; U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available.

Annual base salary: $99,200–$165,400, plus eligibility for a 12.5% performance bonus and a share-based long-term incentive program.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership and engineering solutions for plant utility and environmental systems, including HVAC, chillers, chilled water, cooling towers, steam, process glycol, heating hot water, freezers, cold rooms, fume hoods, biosafety cabinets, fire protection systems, BAS, and associated controls.
• Design and support HVAC and utility systems for pharmaceutical, biotech, manufacturing, and industrial facilities, including system selection, sizing, design intent, load calculations, equipment, materials, instrumentation, and controls.
• Develop engineering deliverables such as airflow diagrams, pressurization and classification plans, P&IDs, equipment layouts, utility distribution drawings, and BAS control philosophies and sequences of operation.
• Provide construction administration and field support through drawing and submittal reviews, RFI responses, punch lists, startup, commissioning, and turnover.
• Lead multiple projects and work activities, coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders, develop scopes of work, support change control, and provide technical oversight through execution.
• Support operations through procedure development, training, preventive maintenance improvements, equipment evaluations, Root Cause Failure Analysis, safety assessments, and updates to drawings, P&IDs, SOPs, and validation strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of experience; or master’s degree with at least 2 years of experience; or PhD with 0+ years of experience; or associate’s degree with 8 years of experience; or high school diploma/equivalent with 10 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply Process Safety Management elements.
• Knowledge of Enterprise Asset Management Solutions or other CMMS applications.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of cGMP, FDA requirements, current pharmaceutical industry standards, and/or other regulations is preferred.
• Ability to show initiative, work independently or in a team environment, shift priorities according to departmental or facility needs, and remain open to different ideas and approaches.
