TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer II (Structures) (Aerospace Manufacturing): Building and scaling composite, machined-metal, and bonded structural assemblies for reentry capsules and spacecraft with an accent on manufacturing process ownership, tooling, and production documentation. Focus on eliminating structural defects, improving work-cell throughput, and transitioning complex aerospace assemblies to higher production cadence.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. The role requires U.S. person status and lawful authorization to work in the United States because of access to export-controlled technology.

Salary: $119,543–$152,749 per year for Engineer II, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

Company

hirify.global develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing systems, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses.

What you will do

  • Own manufacturing processes for composite structures, machined metallic components, and bonded assemblies.
  • Create and maintain work instructions, process specifications, and manufacturing travelers for structural builds.
  • Provide design-for-manufacturing feedback on composite parts, tooling access, bond joints, and fastener patterns.
  • Implement cleanliness, foreign object debris prevention, and contamination-control procedures.
  • Lead non-conformance investigations and corrective actions for dimensional, material, coating, and structural defects.
  • Define production tooling, improve structural work-cell layouts and flow, and coordinate incoming material inspection requirements with supply chain.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 3 years of manufacturing experience with structural assemblies, including riveted or welded structures, machined metals, composites, or bonded structures.
  • Hands-on experience fabricating structural assemblies through welding, adhesive bonding, or riveting.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, and structural assembly models.
  • Experience creating manufacturing documentation and diagnosing structural build defects through corrective-action closure.
  • Must be physically able to lift 25 pounds regularly, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.

Nice to have

  • M.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Materials Science or Structural Analysis.
  • Experience with primary flight structures for launch vehicles, satellites, or reentry systems.
  • Experience transitioning structural assemblies from prototypes to rate production and qualifying tooling.
  • Knowledge of aerospace aluminum, titanium, and steel manufacturing, plus dynamic and vibrational loads analysis.
  • Experience with CATIA, SolidWorks, NX, first article inspection, or FAIR documentation.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time employment with flexible PTO and 12 paid holidays.
  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, with FSA and employer-matched HSA options.
  • 401(k) plan with a 6% employer match and immediately vested contributions.
  • Equity incentives, $120 monthly wellness reimbursement, parental and family-building benefits, and One Medical memberships.
  • Daily lunch, dinner twice weekly, team events, complimentary EV charging, and relocation support for new hires if needed.
