TL;DR

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States

Salary: $104,000–$145,000 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

What you will do

  • Perform mission-specific flight safety analyses, including failure-mode trajectory modeling and debris field containment.
  • Develop regulatory strategies, Methods of Compliance, and safety cases for FAA launch and reentry authorizations.
  • Complete vehicle-level functional hazard analyses and failure mode and effects analyses.
  • Serve as the Flight Safety responsible engineer during mission rehearsals and live recovery operations.
  • Define technical safety limits, mission rules, and vehicle-level regulatory deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, systems engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience owning and executing a complex engineering project from concept through completion.
  • Strong experience with risk management methodologies and tools, including FMEA, FHA, and Fault Tree Analysis.
  • Experience integrating interdisciplinary systems in the aerospace industry.
  • Excellent communication skills for influencing cross-functional teams and presenting to executives, customers, and regulators.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology.

Nice to have

  • Experience with FAA Part 450, expected casualty modeling, trajectory dispersion, or debris analysis.
  • Experience with safety-critical mission operations in aviation or space applications.
  • Experience with FCC Part 25 or Part 5 licensing for satellite and reentry communications.
  • Experience applying lean quality practices without compromising safety or reliability.
