TL;DR
Supply Chain Engineer - Mechanical (Aerospace): Integrating engineering, manufacturing, and supplier capabilities for space vehicle components with an accent on supplier quality, manufacturability, audits, and mechanical hardware. Focus on defining supplier quality requirements, investigating manufacturing issues, driving corrective actions, and qualifying suppliers for aerospace production.

Location: Full-time onsite role based at the El Segundo, California headquarters. Ability to travel 25–50% of the time. Only U.S. persons authorized to work in the United States may be hired due to ITAR-controlled technology.

Salary: $119,000–$232,000 base salary annually, depending on level. Additional incentives may include stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

What you will do

  • Own and develop supplier quality programs and frameworks.
  • Provide Designed for Manufacturability input and support supplier selection for new product introduction and R&D projects.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, conduct audits, and assess quality-control processes.
  • Define supplier specifications, inspection requirements, and acceptance criteria with engineering and operations.
  • Drive supplier continuous improvement, root-cause investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, qualification activities, and aerospace manufacturing standards reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline, such as mechanical, aerospace, or electrical engineering.
  • 3–6+ years of supplier quality engineering experience, preferably in aerospace, automotive, or high-performance engineering.
  • Experience with machined parts, sheet metal, mechanisms, and structural hardware suppliers.
  • Knowledge of quality tools including FMEA, DMAIC, and 8D.
  • Ability to interpret engineering models and drawings, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • U.S. person status and authorization to work in the United States are required.

Nice to have

  • Expertise in mechanical machining, propulsion systems, PCB/PCBA manufacturing, or another relevant commodity.
  • Experience with supplier audits and continuous improvement of supplier quality processes.
  • Knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, and other relevant quality standards.
  • Familiarity with space-system components, materials, and related quality requirements.
  • Thorough understanding of GD&T according to ANSI Y14.5-2009 or 2018.
