Propulsion Electrical Test Engineer (Aerospace)

hirify.global is a Series C aerospace startup developing high-power satellite platforms for commercial and U.S. government missions from low Earth orbit to deep space.

What you will do

• Lead the setup, execution, analysis, and reporting of tests for electronic hardware, circuit boards, spacecraft power systems, and propulsion subsystems.
• Troubleshoot complex electronics, test setups, and anomalies with electrical, propulsion, mechanical, manufacturing, test, and automation engineers.
• Design and fabricate test hardware, harnesses, data acquisition systems, instrumentation, and device simulators for component, subsystem, and hardware-in-the-loop testbeds.
• Develop modular test automation software and drivers using Linux, Python, C++, and Rust.
• Lead multidisciplinary test campaigns, including environmental, functional, vibration, thermal vacuum, EMI/EMC, and propulsion hot-fire testing.
• Manage multiple test assets and acceptance testing of flight avionics, including upgrades supporting the hardware lifecycle and production scalability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, another relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in hardware testing, validation, or related engineering roles.
• Strong programming abilities in Python, C++, and Rust.
• Solid understanding of electronic circuits, schematics, and components.
• Experience designing multilayer PCBAs for high-power or avionics applications.
• Must be a U.S. person under ITAR regulations or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export-control license.

Nice to have

• Experience with analog control loops, solid-state load switches, motor inverters, EMI/EMC compliance, or sensor signal conditioning.
• Experience with data acquisition, controls, dedicated test equipment, circuit simulation tools such as LTspice, or power processing units for electric propulsion testing.
• Familiarity with SMC-S-016 or MIL-STD-810 testing methods, including vibration, shock, and thermal testing.
• Experience selecting components for radiation environments and understanding electrical-system failure modes in space.
• Ability to balance schedule, resource, and technical constraints while solving complex problems.
