Spec, Insurance Discovery (Healthcare)

Location: Houston, Texas, United States; minimum 3 days per week onsite

Salary: $44,800–$61,600 annually, plus potential discretionary bonus

What you will do

• Investigate and resolve complex reimbursement issues through prior authorizations, insurance updates, and claim resolution.
• Research patient accounts, identify reimbursement barriers, document findings, and recommend corrective actions.
• Verify and update patient demographics, insurance information, and supporting documentation.
• Monitor claims, authorizations, billing exceptions, and reimbursement follow-ups to reduce delays.
• Analyze revenue cycle and claims reports, identify trends, and develop payer-specific reimbursement strategies.
• Collaborate with patients, caregivers, sales teams, healthcare providers, and internal stakeholders while maintaining customer service and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate’s degree or higher is preferred.
• At least 2 years of healthcare revenue cycle experience, including eligibility and benefits verification and claims submission.
• Knowledge of insurance industry and third-party payer processes.
• Excellent data entry, organization, prioritization, attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA.
• Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Cardiology experience.
• Experience with third-party payers and medical record reviews for medical necessity.
• Ability to de-escalate customer conflicts effectively.
