Funding Verification Specialist (Healthcare Insurance)

Location: Remote from the United States; travel within the US is required up to two times per year for in-person meetings. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Salary: $50,000–$55,000 per year

What you will do

• Verify insurance benefits by phone and through online portals.
• Interpret coverage information and determine anticipated client costs and device trial funding options.
• Assess case viability based on reimbursement expectations, payer requirements, funding criteria, and reimbursement likelihood.
• Identify and help resolve coordination-of-benefits issues with patients and care partners.
• Communicate funding decisions, barriers, and recommended next steps to internal teams, patients, and care partners.
• Maintain compliant records, complete sales-related data entry, track recurring issues, and escalate priority concerns.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 3 years of experience in healthcare, insurance, DME, medical billing, benefits verification, or a related field.
• Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance.
• Knowledge of insurance plans, funding sources, and DME reimbursement processes.
• Strong documentation, data entry, organizational, communication, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Authorization to work in the United States is required; the organization participates in E-Verify.

Nice to have

• Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Customer service or administrative support experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, TrueSight, Inovalon, or HubSpot.
