Structures Engineering Internship - Spring 2027 (Aerospace)

Location: Full-time, on-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Spring internships run from January through May, with dates dependent on the selected student's university schedule. Candidates must be U.S. persons authorized to work in the United States.

Hourly rate: $33.00

hirify.global develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing systems, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses.

What you will do

• Support the Structures Team in designing mechanical elements for in-orbit manufacturing spacecraft and ground support equipment.
• Evaluate design concepts using first-principles and physics-driven approaches.
• Generate CAD models and engineering drawings for spaceflight hardware.
• Build and test development and flight hardware.
• Collaborate with an experienced aerospace engineering team in a fast-moving startup environment.

Requirements

• Active enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program is required.
• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Physics, or a similar engineering discipline.
• Demonstrated ability to solve engineering challenges through technical projects, such as a rocket club, Formula SAE, internship, co-op, or personal project.
• Must be a U.S. person permitted to access export-controlled technology without an export license.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with CAD software; Siemens NX is used at hirify.global.
• Experience with finite element analysis; Femap with NASTRAN is used at hirify.global.
• Machining experience with equipment such as a mill or lathe.
• Experience with Python or other engineering programming languages.
• Familiarity with GD&T concepts.
