Mechanical Engineer Intern (Winter 2027) (Aerospace)

Location: San Francisco, United States. U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or refugee/asylee status is required due to U.S. Government space technology export regulations.

Base pay: $29 per hour.

What you will do

• Work with the engineering team to design, build, and test satellite hardware and software.
• Design, evaluate, procure, assemble, and test spacecraft structures, bracketry, and mechanisms.
• Work with composite and metallic parts and assemblies produced using varied manufacturing techniques.
• Perform mechanical and thermal analysis for spacecraft systems.
• Integrate parts and systems into spacecraft and develop documentation and procedures to improve future builds.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a B.S. in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or an equivalent technical field such as physics or applied mathematics.
• Passion for hardware development and hands-on design in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to personally design, build, and test hardware from scratch.
• Must hold U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or qualifying protected-individual status.

Nice to have

• Experience with CAD.
• Experience with stress or thermal analysis software.
• Experience designing and specifying electromechanical systems.
• Experience with control-system modeling and design.
