Senior Specialist, Manufacturing Engineer (Automation)

Location: Orange, Virginia, United States; work supports manufacturing operations at the Orange facility. Up to 25% business travel is required.

Salary: $84,000–$156,000 per year.

What you will do

• Develop, implement, troubleshoot, and maintain automated equipment, robotics systems, and manufacturing technology for solid rocket motor production.
• Analyze production processes and workstreams to improve throughput, cycle time, efficiency, cost, safety, and quality.
• Lead automation solutions through requirements development, supplier coordination, testing, equipment validation, and transition to production.
• Perform root cause analysis and resolve production issues with quality assurance, operations, industrial engineering, and manufacturing engineering teams.
• Support new product development, manufacturability, scalability, new product introduction, process flows, and standard operating procedures.
• Monitor and report process performance and use data to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of manufacturing engineering experience; alternatively, a graduate degree and 4 years of experience, or 10 years of experience without a degree.
• Experience supporting manufacturing engineering, production operations, process optimization, and equipment lifecycle activities.
• Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance; security clearances may only be granted to US citizens.
• Ability to travel for business up to 25% of the time.

Nice to have

• Experience with robotic cells, custom automation, vision systems, motion control, testing solutions, PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs.
• Experience programming Fanuc robotics, Allen-Bradley PLCs, or Inductive Automation Ignition.
• Experience with electrical schematics, automation integration, parametric modeling, functional requirements, project management, and automation integrator management.
