Product Compliance Manager (Hardware)

Location: Nottingham or Huntingdon, United Kingdom (hybrid), with occasional travel between sites and to regulatory and certification bodies.

What you will do

• Monitor the global regulatory landscape and identify emerging requirements and compliance risks.
• Build and manage a multi-year compliance roadmap for new and legacy hardware products.
• Translate ambiguous or evolving regulatory directives into actionable guidance for Product Management, R&D, and cross-functional leaders.
• Work hands-on with engineering and product teams through compliance execution.
• Engage and negotiate directly with UL, TÜV, and other certification bodies on approval strategies, testing scope, timelines, and costs.
• Influence senior stakeholders in a matrix organization to prioritize and deliver compliance work.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in Product Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, or a related function within a hardware or electromechanical product environment.
• Technical or engineering fluency gained through a degree, vocational qualification, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Hands-on knowledge of EU frameworks such as CE Marking, Machinery Directive, EMC Directive, Low Voltage Directive, REACH, and RoHS, or North American frameworks such as UL and FCC.
• Experience independently negotiating and managing product approval strategies, testing, timelines, and costs with certification bodies.
• Proven ability to interpret evolving regulations, provide clear guidance, and drive implementation.
• Fluent English, written and spoken, required.
