Staff Software Engineer (Healthcare)

Location: Hybrid in New York City, with at least three days per week in the NYC office

Salary: $201,000–$250,500 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Design and implement scalable, resilient distributed architectures for personalized care delivery.
• Build technical initiatives across the stack, including AI-powered health guidance tools and EMR, billing, and scheduling integrations.
• Define engineering standards, architectural patterns, technology choices, and infrastructure investments.
• Make build-versus-buy decisions that balance immediate needs with future platform scale.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design guidance, and knowledge sharing.
• Partner with product, clinical, and data teams to translate healthcare requirements into technical solutions.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a Staff or Principal role.
• Proven experience designing and building distributed systems at scale, with strong system-design judgment.
• Strong full-stack capabilities and expertise with modern backend technologies such as Python, TypeScript, or Go, plus AWS.
• Experience architecting systems in regulated industries with attention to security, compliance, and data privacy.
• Ability to mentor engineers and improve team-wide technical capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Healthcare technology experience, including EMR integrations, HL7/FHIR, or telehealth platforms.
• Experience building AI agents or Model Context Protocol integrations.
• Experience at a high-growth startup during scaling phases.
• Familiarity with Next.js and CQRS.
