Senior Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: Hybrid in New York City, with at least three days per week in the NYC office

Salary: $225,000–$262,500 per year, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, hire, and develop a team of four engineers, with planned growth to six or seven.
• Write and ship production code for approximately 30–50% of working time.
• Own a product or mission area, drive its roadmap, and manage measurable outcomes and KPIs.
• Integrate AI and agentic systems, including LLM-powered features, into the healthcare platform.
• Partner with product, design, and clinical stakeholders to translate patient-care goals into technical initiatives.
• Guide architecture, code quality, delivery, technical debt management, and team execution.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of direct experience managing software engineering teams, including hiring, performance management, and career development.
• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience delivering production features in service-oriented or distributed architectures.
• Proficiency with TypeScript, React, Node.js, and RESTful APIs.
• Experience delivering complex cross-functional projects from scope through launch.
• Ability to evaluate engineer-driven technical proposals against broader architectural goals.
• Excellent communication, ownership, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare, telehealth, or another regulated industry, including HIPAA-aware environments.
• Experience scaling engineering teams or processes at a high-growth startup.
• Production experience with AI agentic products and LLM orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or LlamaIndex.
• Experience with vector databases, retrieval-augmented generation, and LLM evaluation or observability tooling.
