Senior Director, Enterprise Architecture – AdTech - FreeWheel

Location: New York, NY, 1407 Broadway, Floor 12. The role can also be performed in Illinois and at the Denver Campus.

Salary: $205,230.06–$307,845.09 base pay for the primary location; $179,576.30–$307,845.09 in Illinois and Denver.

What you will do

• Lead, develop, and manage Enterprise Architects aligned with Product domains and Engineering teams.
• Define the Enterprise Architecture vision, operating model, governance mechanisms, standards, and engagement model.
• Advise Product Management and Engineering leadership on architecture strategy, investment decisions, roadmaps, and execution plans.
• Guide architecture for distributed cloud-native AdTech systems spanning ad serving, SSP, DSP, identity, measurement, APIs, and data platforms.
• Drive modernization, technical-debt reduction, reusable platforms, integration patterns, event-driven architecture, and cost-aware technology decisions.
• Establish generative and agentic AI architecture guardrails covering governance, privacy, security, evaluation, and human oversight.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 12+ years of experience in software engineering, software architecture, or enterprise architecture.
• 10+ years of people leadership experience managing senior architects, principal engineers, or comparable technical leaders.
• Experience leading architecture for distributed, high-scale, data-intensive, and transaction-oriented platforms.
• Strong knowledge of cloud-native architecture, microservices, Kubernetes, APIs, event-driven systems, resiliency, observability, and security-by-design.
• Experience establishing architecture governance, decision frameworks, standards, and review processes across multiple teams.

Nice to have

• Experience in AdTech, MarTech, media technology, ad serving, programmatic supply and demand, identity, measurement, or monetization.
• Experience with premium video, CTV, SSAI, live-event monetization, or marketplace platforms.
• Familiarity with generative AI, RAG, workflow orchestration, agentic AI, and production AI governance.
• Experience with legacy modernization, API-first and event-driven architectures, FinOps, and cost-aware engineering.
