Fiber Technician

Location: East Wenatchee, Washington, United States; travel up to 30%.

Salary: $54,000–$90,000 annual base salary.

What you will do

• Perform field activity across the Cogent network, including network element installation at data centers, POPs, and hubs.
• Turn up and test customer circuits and document network changes.
• Maintain fiber infrastructure through locates, maintenance, splicing, emergency restoration, and transmission equipment servicing.
• Maintain data center facilities, equipment, and compliance.
• Manage contractors and vendors and provide field expertise to Network Planning and Customer Service Delivery.
• Work with fiber, CWDM, DWDM, AC, and DC power systems.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience working on telecommunications networks.
• At least 1 year of field experience with DWDM and/or IP networks.
• Experience using optical power meters, OTDR, OSA, and Ethernet/IP testers, including interpreting test results.
• Experience maintaining a fiber network and strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, collaborate effectively, motivate peers, and drive projects to completion.
• Willingness to travel up to 30%.

Nice to have

• Project management experience.
• Experience with daily data center operations, including diesel generators, UPS, and HVAC.
