What you will do

  • Monitor network systems, business services, and service assurance elements for KPI and SLA compliance.
  • Gather, trend, and analyze performance and capacity data to identify degradation, irregularities, overutilization, and risks before customer impact.
  • Forecast network capacity and recommend carrier additions, cell splitting, node segmentation, and other network improvements.
  • Design, optimize, and support HFC access networks, including fiber distribution, coaxial plant, RF components, and DOCSIS broadband services.
  • Analyze RF metrics such as CER, SNR, MER, ingress, egress, and return-path noise, and implement corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Professional experience engineering HFC networks in a cable or broadband environment.
  • Strong knowledge of DOCSIS standards, CommScope NXT, RF theory, and HFC plant design principles.
  • Experience with CMTS/CCAP platforms, HFC monitoring tools, network performance analysis, packet capture technologies, Wireshark, and TCPDump.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications KPIs, RAN and Core technologies, UMTS, CDMA, LTE, VoLTE, and 5G, plus RF performance engineering.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, and at least four years of relevant wireless telecommunications experience.
  • Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, satisfactory driving record, and successful completion of a defensive driving course.

Nice to have

  • Experience with large-scale or geographically dispersed HFC networks, DOCSIS 3.1/4.0, high-split or mid-split architectures, and node segmentation.
  • Experience with NetScout, Gigamon, Riverbed, AppResponse, or NetProfiler.
  • Knowledge of voice and video protocols, including VoIP, RTP, SIP, SRTP, IP multicast, and RTMP.
  • Telecommunications certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, JNCIA, JNCP, or equivalent.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time position with day-shift scheduling.
  • Work may take place in an office, home office, or virtual setting subject to remote-work policies.
  • Participation in a collaborative environment serving Alaskan communities and critical public services.
