Application Support Engineer (Financial Trading)

Location: Onsite in Hong Kong, Hong Kong

What you will do

• Support, monitor, and deploy proprietary systems used for electronic trading across the Asia Pacific region.
• Automate daily morning system health checks and continuously monitor production systems in real time.
• Investigate production issues and coordinate information flow between developers, project managers, operations, traders, brokers, and exchanges.
• Maintain technical and user documentation in Confluence.
• Develop a detailed understanding of trading, order management, market data, static data, settlement, and clearing systems.
• Identify and implement technology-driven improvements to system reliability and usability.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline preferred.
• At least two years of financial industry experience involving trading, market data, OMS, FIX protocol, or related systems.
• Understanding of financial markets, instruments, and market data across equities and derivatives preferred.
• Clear and effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work under pressure with changing priorities in a trading room environment.
• Strong attention to detail and motivation to drive operational and technical improvements.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting trading rooms and working closely with traders.
• Experience with market data, Linux or Windows operating systems, bash, and Python scripting.
• Knowledge of PowerShell, VBA, C#, network fundamentals, or messaging middleware.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous problem solving and process improvement.
