Machinist V - Swing Shift - (T5) (Graphite & Silicon Carbide)

What you will do

• Operate shop machinery to produce prototype and production parts, modifications, repairs, and assemblies.
• Machine graphite and silicon carbide using milling, turning, facing, boring, threading, drilling, grooving, reaming, and chamfering operations.
• Interpret work orders, blueprints, sketches, and written or verbal instructions to determine processes, tooling, fixtures, and setups.
• Plan and perform complex machine setups, including work on 5-axis CNC mills.
• Monitor machines and perform visual and dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and indicators.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area while handling tools, equipment, stock, and heavy machinery.

Requirements

• Trade school certificate in machining plus 5 years of field experience, a machinist journeyman qualification, or 10 years of verifiable field experience.
• Working or advanced knowledge of trigonometry for calculating machining and setup angles.
• Understanding of G and M code and the ability to anticipate machine movements from the control display.
• Experience using inspection tools, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and indicators.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, twist, kneel, reach, lift, distinguish colors, work around noise, use hand and power tools, and operate heavy machinery or forklifts.
• Must be able to work at the Tempe, Arizona manufacturing location.

Nice to have

• 5-axis CNC milling experience.
• Experience with Fanuc machine controls.
