Sr. Staff Engineer - Policy Configuration (AI)

Location: Palo Alto, California, United States. hirify.global Flex allows work from anywhere in the US for up to four weeks per year.

Annual salary: $130,000–$260,000.

What you will do

• Lead architecture, design, and technical strategy for policy platform systems.
• Drive large-scale modernization initiatives, including legacy-to-modern system and data migration.
• Design and develop APIs and microservices using GraphQL, gRPC, Java, Python, and Kafka.
• Build resilient, event-driven, messaging-based services and high-quality data architectures.
• Deploy applications in hybrid cloud environments using Kubernetes, cloud-native tools, and diverse data stores.
• Mentor engineers, strengthen technical practices, and influence engineering and product direction.

Requirements

• 15+ years of full-stack web development experience with C#, Java, Python, Go, and client- and server-side frameworks.
• 8+ years of experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, plus private cloud technologies.
• Deep knowledge of ETL, SQL, bitemporal data modeling, temporal databases, data observability, traceability, and testing.
• Expertise in microservices, API-driven and event-driven architectures, Kafka, GraphQL, gRPC, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Fluency in Java and at least one additional modern object-oriented language such as C#, C++, or Python.
• Must already have US employment authorization; hirify.global will not sponsor a new applicant.

Nice to have

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent education or work experience.
• 6+ years of experience with open-source frameworks.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
