Distinguished Engineer (FinTech)

Location: Hybrid in Palo Alto, CA or Dallas, Texas

Annual salary: $150,000–$300,000

What you will do

• Architect, design, and implement finance platforms supporting accounting, forecasting, reporting, pricing, reserving, compliance, and treasury initiatives.
• Partner with finance stakeholders, product teams, business organizations, and external partners to translate business needs into scalable technology solutions.
• Lead buy-versus-build evaluations based on functional fit, technical feasibility, and cost-benefit analysis.
• Develop reusable platform components and lead prioritization and sequencing of delivery milestones.
• Establish engineering best practices covering modular design, version control, automated testing, and security.
• Partner with SRE on monitoring, alerting, automation, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.

Requirements

• 12+ years of professional experience designing and building finance-critical product or platform applications.
• 5+ years of experience leading and mentoring technical teams.
• Deep understanding of finance processes such as Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Record to Report, reconciliation, FP&A, governance, and compliance.
• Strong experience with an ERP finance platform such as Workday Financials, Oracle, or SAP.
• Experience translating finance requirements into scalable solutions using data lake and cloud computing technologies.
• Understanding of SRE concepts including SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, monitoring, alerting, and incident response, plus a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Prior experience implementing Workday Financials.
• Experience with Agile execution frameworks and successful partnership with product and business organizations.
