Principal Engineer - Work Profiles (Identity)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States; full-time, in-office five days per week

Salary: $214,972–$307,125 USD annual base salary, excluding bonus, equity, and benefits

hirify.global provides a digital identity wallet and identity verification platform used by consumers, government agencies, healthcare organizations, and consumer brands.

What you will do

• Own the data model strategy and long-term architecture for Work Profiles and Communities.
• Design and govern API contracts, including affiliation, profile issuance, lifecycle, and OIDC integration APIs.
• Define configuration-driven eligibility rules, assurance tiers, validation mechanisms, and attribute mappings.
• Lead modular validation architecture covering email domains, ownership matching, document verification, enterprise SSO, and registry integrations.
• Design profile issuance, expiration, revocation, and revalidation so wallet profiles remain accurate and auditable.
• Set technical direction, represent the domain in architecture forums, and mentor staff and senior engineers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including recognized technical authority across a complex domain spanning multiple systems.
• Deep expertise in data modeling, entity-attribute and affiliation models, and scalable, auditable relationship structures.
• Experience owning APIs and data contracts for source-of-truth systems, including versioning, compatibility, and governance.
• Ability to set technical strategy and align engineering teams without direct authority.
• Experience designing configuration-driven or rules-driven systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with person-to-organization or person-to-credential systems and self-service platform configuration layers.
• Knowledge of NIST 800-63 IAL2/AAL2, OIDC, OAuth 2.0, Verifiable Credentials, or Decentralized Identifiers.
• Experience with graph databases, cloud-native infrastructure, and regulated environments.
• Excellent communication skills and experience influencing technical direction across an organization.
