Senior Staff Engineer - Financial Substantiation Platform

Location: Hybrid in Bethesda, Maryland or Dallas, Texas, United States. hirify.global Flex allows working from anywhere in the US for up to four weeks per year.

Annual salary: $120,000–$260,000.

What you will do

• Provide technical and architectural leadership for financial substantiation and reconciliation services, APIs, and data flows.
• Build scalable, secure, highly available software for financial matching, exception handling, and control processes.
• Modernize legacy reconciliation and financial systems and integrate source systems with financial reporting and ERP-related workflows.
• Own solutions from design through production, including quality, reliability, performance, and observability.
• Partner with Finance, Compliance, Product, Treasury, the Financial Data Warehouse, and ERP-aligned teams.
• Mentor engineers and influence technical leadership through clear tradeoffs and roadmaps.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software development experience with staff- or principal-level impact.
• 8+ years leading architecture and large initiatives with cross-functional technical leadership.
• 6+ years building cloud-native distributed systems in production and 4+ years working with a major cloud platform.
• 5+ years working with high-volume data, reconciliation, financial, payments, or ledger-adjacent systems.
• Fluency in at least one modern language such as Java, C#, or Go; experience with microservices, REST or gRPC, SQL, and relational design at scale.
• Hybrid work in Bethesda, MD or Dallas, TX is required; visa sponsorship may be available for a qualified new applicant.

Nice to have

• Financial services or insurance experience and familiarity with ERP or general-ledger systems.
• Kafka, Snowflake, Airflow, Python, PySpark, or Snowpark experience.
