Senior Backend Software Engineer - Commercial Software

Location: Hybrid role based in Austin, Texas or Sunnyvale, California, with reporting to a specific location at least three times per week. Relocation benefits are available for eligible candidates.

Salary: $153,200–$269,200 per year, plus incentive pay potential.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable, and performant backend services and systems.
• Build and launch capabilities and products for internal and external customers.
• Improve engineering quality, codebase quality, observability, and development efficiency.
• Collaborate with product, design, architecture, and engineering stakeholders.
• Participate in technical discussions and architectural deep dives.
• Mentor engineers earlier in their technical careers and explore new technologies.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on backend software development experience.
• Experience building production-quality, highly performant, and scalable distributed systems and service-oriented architectures.
• Professional experience with Java, Scala, or Kotlin and Spring Boot.
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented concepts, data structures, algorithms, systems architecture, NoSQL, and relational databases.
• Experience writing thoroughly tested production code with clear documentation and appropriate observability.

• Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience with IoT technologies.
• Strong product focus and experience independently driving features through the development lifecycle.
• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or Engineering.
